Jiào Hu ã Pot is inspired by the “picnic” social event. Picnics are defined by, each person contributing to the meal and event to share and experience each other’s food; bringing friends and family together. Taking the idea of the traditional ‘beggars chicken (Jiào Hu ã)’ Chinese cooking myth, the Pot is a new cooking tool and experience for social gatherings.
The woven bamboo lid and raw clay lid protect the food and seals the heat and flavor when baked. The clay lid is designed to be hand built by the users, creating more interaction within the cooking process. The muslin bag is used to store and carry the pot, and used as a heat prove mat. The “cracking” action when opening the baked clay lid excites users when revealing the aroma and their cooking. The carefully selected material gives it an earthy visual over all; adding to the new cooking experience.
